Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish, a welcoming community of approximately 750 families is seeking a full time Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation to oversee faith formation and sacramental preparation, including RCIA, at all age and grade levels except youth and young adult ministries. This person reports directly to the Pastor and works in close collaboration with entire pastoral team, including the faculty and staff of our Parish School. Our parish faith formation program focuses on whole-family, integrated catechesis.
All candidates with experience will be considered, although a master’s degree in religious studies or a related field is preferred. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in relational ministry, excellent communication skills, and an engaged, active faith life. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Compensation commensurate with education and experience, in accord with the guidelines given by the Archdiocese of Seattle.

POSITION TITLE: Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation
REPORTS TO: Pastor
I. POSITION PURPOSE
Develops, implements and directs Faith Formation Programs for specified groups and Sacramental Preparation Programs for children and adults.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Develops, plans and directs Faith Formation programs (Children/Family Faith Formation, Adult formation groups) and Sacramental Preparation for children and adults (Infant Baptism, First Communion/Reconciliation, RCIA/RCIC, Adult Confirmation, Marriage Preparation)
B. Works closely with Pastoral Assistant for Youth and Young Adult Ministry to develop integrated, “cradle to grave” faith formation and sacramental preparation for the parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes.
C. Manages all record-keeping for all parish sacramental preparation and faith formation programs except those based in the parish school and those done by the PAYYAM.
D. Provides support to teachers and staff at the parish school in the area of Catholic Identity.
E. Recruits, trains, motivates and provides general and specific direction to volunteers involved with faith formation activities and programs.
F. Serves as primary staff contact for all parish groups whose primary purpose is faith formation, whether spiritual or educational, at all age levels, excluding groups or programs based in the parish school.
G. Provides staff support for the parish Faith Formation Commission, including agenda planning with the commission chair, plus communication among the members of the commission and between the commission and the Pastor, Pastoral Council and other parish staff.
H. Facilitates Safe Environment Training as needed for the Parish and School. This requires being trained as SEP Facilitator.
III. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
A. Utilizes multiple forms of communication with parish (bulletin announcements, e-blasts, parish website and parish social media, etc)
B. Maintains inventory of educational supplies and re-orders as appropriate.
C. Facilitates additional opportunities for adult faith formation as directed by Pastor.
D. Performs other duties as assigned.
