The following is a message from Fr. Woody:

Greetings, my dear members of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish faith community.  In these uncertain times, I’m not sure how much longer we will be able to keep our parish offices open to serve your needs and help us all to stay connected. At the same time, I do not want ANYTHING to get in the way of my being available to you if you have a serious pastoral emergency during these difficult days.

That’s why I’m taking the extraordinary step of creating a temporary cell phone number where you can reach me directly, even after our office is closed down by a “shelter in place” order.  I’m trusting all of you to use this number FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY!  Much as I love you all, and much as I genuinely enjoy talking with you, please remember that there are thousands of you, and only one of me, so ONLY call me if you have an IMMEDIATE, URGENT need for pastoral care, like a deathbed Anointing of the Sick or an acute mental health crisis. I won’t have direct access to any financial resources, so please don’t call me with requests for financial assistance.

This number has been set up through Google Voice.  When you call, you’ll be asked to identify yourself, then leave me a message.  That message will be relayed to my cell phone, and I will respond to you as soon as I am able.  If, for some reason, I don’t get back to you within 24 hours, please try again.  (That’s because I don’t completely trust this technology.)

After the immediate crisis is over and our office reopens, the special number will be shut down, and we’ll resume normal operations.  In the meantime, if THIS number gets clogged up with a bunch of unnecessary messages, I will have to discontinue it, and switch to some other, probably less responsive, system.

The number is: 503 - 985 - 8043

Peace,

With love and prayers,
(Fr.) Woody
