Pastoral Assistant for Youth and Young Adult Ministry
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish, a welcoming community of approximately 800 families, is seeking a full time Pastoral Assistant for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. This person will oversee Middle School, High School, and Young Adult sacramental preparation and ministries. Our parish faith formation focuses on whole-family, integrated catechesis. This person will work in close collaboration with the Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation and the entire pastoral team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a "youth-ministry-related" field, demonstrated experience in relational ministry, excellent communication skills, and an engaged, active faith life. This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Compensation commensurate with education and experience.

POSITION TITLE: Pastoral Assistant for Youth and Young Adult Ministry
REPORTS TO: Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation
I. POSITION PURPOSE
To implement the parish’s commitment to comprehensive youth (grades 6 through 12) and young adult ministry as a part of the overall parish faith formation mission of formation, evangelization, and discipleship.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Collaborates with the Pastor, the Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation, other parish staff, volunteers, and other members of the parish Pastoral Leadership to develop and grow comprehensive ministries for youth and young adults. Youth and Young Adult ministry should fit seamlessly into the overall life of the parish.
B. Directs High School and Middle School youth ministries, Confirmation preparation (youth and adult), and Young Adult ministry. Works with the Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation to provide preparation for other sacraments for parish youth, as needed. Youth and Young Adult programming should include (but not be limited to) opportunities for spiritual, intellectual, and human formation as well as social, service, and leadership.
C. Recruits, trains, and provides ongoing support for volunteers in all areas of youth and young adult ministry.
D. Provides formation opportunities for parents, guardians, sponsors, and other important adults in a youth’s life.
E. Works with parish school staff to provide spiritual formation opportunities for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.
F. Administers program budget, ensures sacramental record keeping for Confirmations, and serves as ancillary staff to the parish Faith Formation Commission.
G. Submits timesheet on a timely basis.
H. Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for effective ministry through regular participation in deanery, archdiocesan, and professional opportunities, as approved.
