Children’s Faith Formation 2009-2010

3 & 4 Years Old
We are offering the Little Lambs Program on the first Sunday of the month at the 11 am Mass.  There are three half-hour home lessons as part of the program.

Kindergarten --5th Grade
Family Formation, Wednesday’s 6:30--8:00 pm, once a month
Our Church has called parents “the first and primary teachers” of their children. The Family Formation option for Faith Formation places learning about Christ and his teachings back in the center of the home. Children and parents come to Our Lady of Lourdes once a month for separate classes on the same topic.  Then the parents are given lessons to be completed at home as a family for the rest of the month. The lessons are fun and easy to teach from. Even if you, as a parent, do not feel comfortable in you knowledge of the Catholic faith, this program will empower you to deepen your knowledge and become a confident teacher of the faith. Cost is $50 per family. Please contact Valerie with any questions.  Dinner is provided each month at 6 pm in the gym. 

Children’s Faith Formation--Sunday Classes, 12:15--1:30 pm.
A weekly class option for families who are unable to come on Wednesday nights or who prefer the classroom model of Children’s Faith Formation. Cost is $50 per child, with a maximum of $100 per family.

First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
You may choose to sign your child up for either Sundays at 12:15-1:30 pm or Wednesday at 6:30-8 pm classes.  Preparation includes: eight classes at Our Lady of Lourdes, and completion of all home lessons with the parents. To help their child better prepare for their First Reconciliation and Eucharist, parents attend four adult classes. Please contact Valerie for more information.

Please note:  Your child needs to have attended at least two years of Faith Formation prior to beginning preparation for the sacraments. We also encourage you to register your child for 2nd Grade Children’s Faith Formation or Family Formation if they are not attending a Catholic School this year.

Liturgy of the Word
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) invites children in kindergarten through 5th grade to hear God’s Word on their level at the 9:30am and 11:00am Masses periodically through the school year. Children leave Mass after the opening prayer and they return to their families at the Offertory. For more information please contact Valerie Scott.
