Our Church has called parents “the first and primary teachers” of their children.  The Family Formation option for Faith Formation places learning about Christ and his teachings back in the center of the home.  Children and parents come to Our Lady of Lourdes once a month for separate classes on the same topic.  Then the parents are given lessons to be completed at home as a family for the rest of the month.  The lessons are fun and easy to teach from.  Even if you, as a parent, do not feel comfortable in your knowledge of the Catholic faith, this program will empower you to deepen your knowledge and become a confident teacher of the faith.  Cost is $50 per family. Children’s Faith Formation 2011-2012

We are offering the Little Lambs Program at the same time as Family Formation on Sundays.  There are three half-hour take-home lessons each month as part of the program.  The first class is September 25.  Please contact Valerie Scott to sign up.

First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
You may choose to sign your child up for either Sundays at 12:15-1:30 p.m. or Wednesdays from 6:30-7:45 p.m. classes.  Preparation includes: eight classes at Our Lady of Lourdes, the completion of all home lessons with the parents, and the participation in two retreats. To help their child better prepare for their First Reconciliation and Eucharist, parents attend four adult classes. Please contact Valerie Scott for more information.
Please note:  Your child needs to have attended at least two years of Faith Formation prior to beginning preparation for the sacraments. We also encourage you to register your child for 2nd Grade Children’s Faith Formation or Family Formation if they are not attending a Catholic School this year.

Liturgy of the Word
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) invites children in pre-school through 5th grade to hear God’s Word on their level during the 9:30 am and 11:00 am Masses on the 2nd Sunday of each month throughout the school year. Children leave Mass after the opening prayer and return to their families at the Offertory.  No registration is required. For more information please contact Valerie Scott.

Becoming Catholic
This program guides children in 3rd grade and older in their journey to become Catholic. For more information, please contact Karen Burnham.

Joyful Noise Singing Camp
Usually held the 3rd week of June. The Joyful Noise singing day camp is a great way for children from kindergarten to eighth grade to learn basic singing, drama, and theater skills. The repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary Christian music. The children will put together a final performance including everything they learned at the end of the week.
