Advent Retreat

You may have already seen some stores preparing for the Christmas shopping season by displaying decorations and attempting to put you in the “Christmas Spirit.” Of course, for some years now, we have seen commercialism and secularism creeping more and more into what we have always held sacred in our lives. So many people have found themselves torn by what society says we should do to celebrate this “holiday” and what our Catholic faith has taught us about the birth of Jesus and its meaning. To celebrate our Lord’s birth and to prepare for His second coming requires a period of quiet, patient and active waiting.
